Project 6 Noise Envelopes in Sytrus

I went in a very different way with these song than i had intended to do. First i started with the Gsus7 chord with a B in the bass. Increased the bass note to C while keeping the same chord, then E, then finally D and changed the chord halfway through from a D sus to a D major chord. Using the Envelopes in Sytrus I changed the concept of how to use these Envelopes. Instead of using them to make a melody and further the song that way i used them to create a giant epic space battle. I started out with the martians in the left ear fighting the humans in the right ear. Before the human talks the spaceship comes in with the volume envelope and leads out as soon as the battle starts. Both sides start talking while there is no bass or drums and the human counts down from 3. After he is done the space battle ensues where the pitch envelope makes the sound of the martian guns being shot. They are panned from side to side to show that the humans are surrounded and that there is no way out for them. I Key mapped the low register of the guns to sound off in the left earphone and the higher faster guns to sound off in the right earphone. I used the LFO envelope when making the bass to make the battle seem more sinister as to show that the aliens were winning the fight. The drums in the song are just bass drum and snare to start out with. I used a more of a bass, bass drum and a more open snare sound to give the representation of how much space there really is in this battle. The shaker comes in very slightly but adds a little different sound towards the final project. I didn't do anything fancy with the drums because the gun sounds were the main melody of the song and the main thing the listeners will listen to. Right as the end of the song comes a giant nuke launch coming from the highest note to the lowest. The sound of the bombs at the end is just the original snare in FL studios transposed down to C0-C1. The static at the end represents the ending of the battle and an undecided victor as there is no clear winner after the bombing.I hope you enjoy the epic battle.

  1. What a cool concept for key mapping! I enjoyed the piece, although I must say the mood was rather peaceful for an epic battle. Nice job on the synths though, and good use of panning.
